Cornelius Bright Vordey
Doctoral researcher in Applied Mathematical Sciences and a hands-on DevSecOps & AIOps engineer. I work at the intersection of applied mathematics, secure software delivery, and AI-driven operations — turning numerical rigor into resilient, intelligent systems.
Research Focus
Research & Publications
My doctoral research explores the dynamics and vibrations of Euler-Bernoulli beams in contact with obstacles under the Damped Normal Compliance (DNC) condition — combining numerical analysis, finite element methods, and simulation to model real-world contact mechanics problems. This work bridges applied mathematics and computational engineering, and informs how I think about reliability, modeling, and intelligent automation in production systems.

Career Journey
Professional Experience
DevOps / DevSecOps Engineer
- Supply-chain security: Integrated automated dependency and license compliance scanning (FOSSA) with policy gates on pull requests and release branches to prevent non-compliant artifacts from shipping to production.
- Zero-downtime platform migration: Led migration of 200+ services and shared libraries from legacy Nexus repositories (on-prem and Azure VMs) to JFrog Artifactory, updating CI/CD pipelines for dual-repository resolution during cutover.
- Cloud modernization: Contributed to the org-wide migration of microservices from Pivotal Cloud Foundry to Google Cloud Run, standardizing release patterns for container-based serverless workloads.
- Release acceleration: Reduced end-to-end deployment time from ~15 minutes to < 5 minutes by redesigning Jenkins pipelines (stage optimization, conditional execution, deployment-path routing).
- AIOps & platform reliability: Hardened Jenkins-on-Kubernetes infrastructure with automated health checks and self-healing remediation for failed pods, keeping clusters stable under heavy build load.
- Release engineering ownership: Drove incident response, stakeholder communication, and migration dashboards across the CI/CD and release engineering surface.
DevOps & Cloud Engineer (Contract)
- Infrastructure as Code: Automated multi-cloud provisioning with Terraform, increasing team productivity by 60%+ through reproducible, auditable deployments.
- CI/CD pipelines: Designed and maintained testing, integration, and delivery pipelines across cloud workloads, accelerating the development lifecycle.
- Observability & FinOps: Built monitoring and optimization workflows that contributed to a 30% reduction in operational cost through proactive issue identification and right-sizing.
